Munday Monday...

Well Kevin had to work on his day of today to cover for a couple guys. I got up and finished the laundry, straightened the house and made a pot of Chicken Vegetable Soup. My day was pretty mundane. I just got some computer files in order and deleted a million emails. Why don't we just delete them when we read them or open our email. It really can create a huge backlog.

I'm planning on working tomorrow and going to a coupon class at church tomorrow night. I love learning this savings stuff. You should see my pantry...it is really paying off.

Kevin got home just in time to walk to the bus stop to get Breanna. Cameron had math tutoring after school. I started Bre' on her homework, while Kevin went to get Cameron. They got home and started on his homework. We all just ate and the kids are showering. They plan to watch Ice Age 3 tonight. Kevin and I are going to just relax and watch Heros and maybe a movie of our own.

I bought a oven chicken roaster somewhere many years ago. It is a little 3 piece contraption that allows you to roast a chicken standing up in your oven. It took Kevin and I both to put the thing together. We just now put the chicken in the oven that I had forgotten I had thawed out. Should be ready around 8:30 p.m., it will be a good start for dinner tomorrow. All we will have to do is heat up the chicken, I know we are going to grill some corn and I was thinking of mac and cheese or stuffing (I'll leave that up to Kevin). I'll let you know how my little roaster does.

I just want to say that I am so thankful for the wonderful family I have. God has truly blessed us all and especially me.

Our Story

We are a wonderful loving family on a very unpredictable journey. We come from very different backgrounds. Kevin grew up in Tennessee his whole life without traveling outside is community. Not very different from a lot of children in the world I’m sure. I (Pammy) grew up traveling the world and experiencing different cultures because my father was in the Air Force. Yep, I’m a Military Brat. Even though loving the discovery I looked forward to getting back to Tennessee to see the grandparents and other extended family. We both come from a Christian background. Kevin recalls going to church without fail with his grandparents. My family is very spiritual and has a long Christian heritage. My grandmother’s grandfather was a Baptist Preacher and I have two cousins that are Preachers, one Pentecostal and the other Baptist. We are both very proud of our families’ religious belief. It is what we believe has made us the people we are today and continue strive to become.

We were both married before we found each other, pretty typical of a family of today. I knew my first husband for about seven years and only stayed married for a little over a year. Kevin knew his ex-wife for over a year and stayed married for about seven years. A little funny in the toss up wouldn’t you say?? Just goes to show you not to judge time it really says nothing. I had one son from my first marriage, Cameron. He was 8 weeks premature and in infancy got meningitis and sepsis. He is real fighter and we have overcome so many close calls. Today he is thriving with ADHD, Bipolar, Psycosis with both audio and visual hallucinations, short-term memory loss, chronic gastritis and esophagitis. It sounds like a lot but we take it one day at a time and I am so blessed to have him. He is a wonderful son with a boundless future. His biological father lives in Georgia and had decided to allow Kevin to raise him, it was what Cameron wanted. This past April Kevin was able to adopt him and give him his name. Kevin has a daughter from his previous marriage, Breanna. She is full of life and words. My father thinks that she will have no other choice but to become a lawyer or politician. That is fine with us. Breanna is healthy and will grow and discover without a doubt. Her biological mother lives in Alabama and does get visitation even though Kevin has custody. This situation always adds drama to our situation as I’m sure many families in America understand.

We met on the internet with a common interest…worried about our kids. I often wonder what the percentage of marriages start with, “Can I email you sometime?”. I think it will be more come than people think. We dated for almost a year and a half and decided in November of 2006 that we had found our soul mates in each other. We had a wonderful private ceremony (with our immediate family), married by my cousin in my grandfather’s log cabin. Immediately following we had a huge reception at our church for all our friends and family. It was such a beautiful day. We were so calm all day long. I guess if it is right there is no reason to be nervous. The kids had a wonderful time as well. We honeymooned in Helen, GA. It is a very special place to us and a place we always look forward to spending time together and with our family.

We have now been married for over four years now and it has been wonderful. Life had dealt us with a lot of issues from custody, health, financial, house, car trouble and so many more things. We know that we are meant to be together and our faith in God gets us through each day at a time. We take on that philosophy and it seems to be the real secret. We are only promised today so why not live it to the fullest. We do our best not to argue, but we do have disagreements. Hey everyone is their own person and thinks their own way so in order for us to stay on the same page we talk a lot. It is important to share what you are thinking…unless you happen to be married to someone with ESP.

We both are in places that we never thought we would be when we started out in life’s journey. But perhaps we are closer to what we wanted than we realized, we just took a different road to get here. We hope that our life with cross someone’s path and maybe lend a little humor and let them know they aren’t alone. So this is our life…we’re not in Kansas that’s for sure.
